The Current Walter Lives By
Gather It · Build It · Give It Away
You can’t fake it — but you can make it. And the more you make, the more you’ve got to give.
The Idea
Ask Walter what positive energy is and he won’t hand you a definition — he’ll hand you a feeling. It’s the thing that walks into a room before you do. It’s why a great song can flip your whole day in four bars, why a real smile catches like a yawn, why some people just leave you lighter than they found you. It’s real, it’s physical, and here’s the part most folks miss: it isn’t something you’re born with or without. It’s something you make.
Walter’s whole art — Hip Hop Kido, where the dance and the discipline are the same motion — runs on one idea: energy moves. You can raise it or let it sink. Hoard it or spend it. Catch someone else’s or hand them yours. Treat it like a mood and you’re at the mercy of the weather. Treat it like a practice and you become the weather.
So this isn’t a page about what positive energy is. It’s about how you get it, how you build it until it’s second nature, and how you give it away — because that last part is the secret the whole thing is built on. Three movements. Let’s run them.
Movement One
Where the energy comes from. Go where it lives — and bring some home.
01
Gather It
Start with the fastest on-ramp there is: music. Walter’s been moving to a beat his whole life, and he’ll tell you straight — the right song is a cheat code for your whole nervous system. Four bars in and your shoulders drop, your head starts to nod, your blood remembers it’s alive. You didn’t talk yourself into feeling better. The rhythm did it for you.
Everybody’s got that one track that flips the switch — the one that makes you walk a little taller, the one you can’t sit still through. That’s not a guilty pleasure. That’s a tool. Build the playlist. Keep it close. When you’re running low you don’t always need a pep talk — sometimes you just need the right track and about ninety seconds.
Try It
Build a five-song ‘lift-off’ playlist — only the tracks that physically move you. Play one, loud, before the next hard thing today.
02
Gather It
Now stand up. Energy doesn’t live in your head — it lives in your body, and you unlock it by moving. This is the heart of Hip Hop Kido: motion isn’t what you do after you feel good, it’s how you get there. A walk, a stretch, a few push-ups, one verse danced out in the kitchen — your mood follows your body far more than your body follows your mood.
You won’t always feel like moving. That’s exactly when it counts most. You don’t wait for the energy to show up and then move — you move, and the energy comes to meet you. Five minutes is the whole ask. Motion first, motivation second. It almost never works the other way around.
Try It
Feeling stuck? Don’t think — move. Sixty seconds of anything: shake it out, walk the block, dance the chorus. Then check back in with yourself.
03
Gather It
Here’s a quiet one that hits harder than it sounds: notice the good. Your brain is wired to hunt for what’s wrong — it kept your ancestors alive, and it makes you miserable now. Gratitude is just the discipline of turning that spotlight around on purpose, onto what’s already going right and usually invisible.
It doesn’t have to be big. A warm cup. A text from a friend. A sky worth looking at. The plain fact that you got back up today. Name it and you feel it land. Do it daily and something rewires — your default starts drifting toward the good, because you’ve trained your eye to find it. You can’t be grateful and empty at the same time.
Try It
Tonight, name three good things from your day — out loud. Small counts. Especially small.
04
Gather It
Energy is contagious — that’s not a figure of speech, it’s how people actually work. Sit with someone bright and you walk away brighter. Sit with someone draining and you leave on empty. So be honest about your circle: who fills your tank, and who siphons it? You’re allowed to spend more of your time in the rooms that lift you.
And you don’t have to find those rooms alone. The whole point of a community is that nobody has to carry a low day by themselves. Reach out before you think you need to — a real conversation, not a scroll. Connection is the one source of energy that grows every single time you share it.
Try It
Message one person today who always leaves you better — for no reason, just to connect. (Short a few good people? The Fanward Discord is full of them.)
Movement Two
Gathering is the spark. Building is what makes it stay.
05
Build It
Anybody can catch a good day. The goal is to make positive energy your baseline — the place you live, not the place you visit. And baselines don’t get built in big dramatic gestures. They get built in reps: small, unglamorous, repeated actions that quietly stack up into who you are.
A black belt is just a white belt who never quit showing up — and energy works the exact same way. The playlist, the movement, the gratitude, the people: none of it is a one-time fix. It’s a daily practice, and the magic is in the boring consistency. Miss a day? No guilt — just start again. You’re not chasing a peak. You’re raising the floor.
Try It
Pick ONE gathering habit — a song, a walk, a gratitude, a quick text to a good friend — and do it every day this week. Same time, no exceptions. Watch your floor come up.
06
Build It
You’re in a conversation all day long, and there’s only one other person in it: the voice in your own head. It narrates everything — and most people never stop to check whose side it’s on. Walter’s rule is simple: talk to yourself like you’d talk to somebody you love. That voice writes the story you live inside, so make it a kind one.
This isn’t about lying to yourself or faking sunshine. It’s about catching the cheap shots — ‘you always mess this up,’ ‘who do you think you are’ — and refusing to let them stand unchallenged. You’re allowed to argue with that voice. You can coach it. Over time the inner critic loses the mic, and something steadier picks it up: a voice that’s actually in your corner.
Try It
Catch one harsh thought today and rewrite it the way a good friend would say it. Same truth — kinder words.
Movement Three
The secret the whole page has been building toward.
07
Share It
By now, you’ve got something real to give — so give it. The quickest way to feel good is to make somebody else feel good, and it’s not even close. A real compliment. A check-in text. Holding the door with your whole face, not just your hand. Tiny deposits in someone else’s day that cost you next to nothing.
The wild part is what comes back: the energy you hand over doesn’t leave you — it doubles. You light somebody up and you catch the glow coming back off them. That’s the engine of the whole thing. Positive energy is the one currency that grows when you spend it. Hoard it and it goes stale. Give it away and it multiplies.
Try It
Make one person’s day on purpose today. Pay the compliment you’d normally just think — and feel what it does to both of you.
08
Share It
This is where it gets bigger than you. When you lift someone, they don’t just feel better — they turn around and lift the next person. Your good day becomes their good day becomes the good day of somebody you’ll never meet. One smile, one kind word, dropped in the right moment, and the wave keeps rolling long after you’ve walked away.
That’s the whole mission, and it’s why Walter does what he does. You don’t have to fix the world. You just have to be a bright spot in your corner of it and trust the wave to carry it the rest of the way. The energy you put out is the energy the world hands back. So make it good. Be the reason somebody’s day turned around — and the start of a wave you don’t even get to see finish.
Try It
Do one good thing today with zero expectation of anything back. That’s how a wave starts.
The Whole Secret
Read it back and you’ll notice the three movements were never really separate. You gather energy so you can build it. You build it so you can share it. And the sharing — this is the part that surprises everybody — is what refills the tank you just gave from. It’s a loop, not a line. The give is the get.
That’s why positive energy never runs dry on the people who understand it. They’re not guarding a finite stash — they’re running a current. Pulling it in from music and motion and good people. Charging it up with daily reps and a kinder voice. Pushing it back out into every room they walk into. And the more they push, the more comes flowing in behind it.
So go make some noise. Somebody out there is one good day away from being okay — and it might just be you who hands it to them.
